148lbs! wohooo!

Current weight: 148.0 lbs

lost .4 lbs.

I hadn't posted in so long and my weight has since fluctuated up and down but I think I have a grip on it now, inshaAllah. I want to start fasting next week to make up my Ramadan fasts and I am curious what that will do for my diet.  I went on a biz trip with the hubs and that threw me off completely! subhanaAllah. That's why it has taken me so long to get back in stride. 

Monday, Wednesday and Friday I do my little workout.

I am a little confused. I had some blood work done this past Friday and the doc gave me the results yesterday. Even though I started this diet with 38% body fat I am actually really healthy. My cholesterol is normal, blood pressure, vit. D, RBC count.  I was really expecting some horrible news. Alhamdulillah.

Cheat DAY!`

The 4-Hour Body: An Uncommon Guide to Rapid Fat-Loss, Incredible Sex, and Becoming SuperhumanYesterday (SUNDAY) was my designated cheat day and I LOVED IT! I weighed myself today to see the after effects of it and I went up 3.8lbs. Today, however am back on my diet.

The cheat day was supposed to help me not plateau.  So far I am pretty happy with the way this diet is going.  ALhamdulillah.

Starting Information...

In the name of Allah, compassionate & merciful بِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمنِ الرَّحِيمِ
Peace be with you السلام عليكم

ok so this is my starting info (cringe worthy)
  1. I purchased a Escali bathroom scale
    Escali High-Capacity Bathroom Scale with Body Fat/Body Water Monitoring (440lb / 200kg)
  2. Orbitape Body Mass Tape (apparently the army uses it)
    Orbitape Body Mass Tape Measure 1 ea
  3. Slim Guide Skinfold Caliper (to measure the chubs)
    Slim Guide Skinfold Caliper
  4. 35lb/16kg Kettlebell
    CFF 35 lb/16 kg Kettlebell
So after using the skinfold caliper to determine my percentage of fat by (1) measuring my upper arm (back), (2) front upper arm, (3)just below the shoulder blade, (4) side of waist.  Adding those 4 measurements up I got a total of 116mm which roughly translates to 38% body fat for someone 5'3" and 25 years old.  I was going to get it done via bodpod or DEXA, but one couldn't find one nearby and two I am not cool with the radiation specially after my recent miscarriage.

My starting weight is 156.6lbs (I weighed in at 160 at the doctors office during the pregnancy). 

my weight X percentage of fat = how many lbs of fat I have
156.6lbs X .38 =  59.5lbs of body fat

156.6lbs- 59.5lbs = 97.1 lbs of lean body mass.

Using the orbitape I measured my bicep, bust, waist, hip and thigh the total inches was =142.5 inches.  I will just be reporting over all inches lost publicly.

what gets measured gets managed


I am starting a new phase in my life inshaAllah. I am recovering from a miscarriage, have 30lbs over my I deal weight, two beautiful children, loving hubs who also wants to lose weight and clothes that no longer fit. Alhamdulillah. I will be doing the Slow-Carb diet by Tim Ferriss

not all of it is halal so I will be avoiding the haraam advice. I like him as an author and after reading the book and purchasing the needed equipment I am ready to try more vigorously.  I am still waiting for some tools to arrive in the mean time I will be posting my weight loss on this blog as well as inches lost as well. Seeing how I don't necessarily want to divulge my figure's figures nor would hub appreciate it I will only say I lost x amt of inches today or I lost a total amount of x inches. 

That way I can still record it.
